The Dolphin Shopping Centre / Faulkner Square, Quay & Poole Museum
Poole Town Centre Management has been associated with Frosts Christmas Tree Services since 2007.
In 2007 we installed a fully decorated 20ft Norway Spruce tree into the Poole Museum. This successful installation coupled with the professionalism and dedication of our Christmas tree team; from ordering through to installation and collection, resulted in the opportunity to supply four trees to various Poole town centre locations in 2008. Providing both an internal fully decorated Christmas tree and three outdoor Christmas trees decorated with lights, the trees varied in size from 16ft through to a spectacular specimen of some 30ft.
Before any installations could start our Large Tree Manager and our Health & Safety director met with the council’s Health & Safety personnel to fully discuss the installation. After this meeting we submitted in-depth site surveys which fully addressed any questions the client had regarding the installation and our never failing attention to Health and Safety at all times. With our understanding of the client’s requirements we liaised with our suppliers to source the best possible lighting alternatives to enhance their trees while at all times ensuring the safety of the public. Low voltage lights were chosen that offered no risk to the public but which still shone out brightly.
Again in 2009 Frosts supplied the tree for the museum and two trees for the Quay. The Dolphin Shopping Centre decided
to have a change of display and sourced a large artificial cone tree through another contractor. This display was rejected by the public and Frosts were quickly called in to ‘save the day’ and install the 35ft real tree into the Dolphin Centre’s Faulkner Square. We were pleased to assist Poole Town Centre Management and we used all our contacts and skills to source and install the 35ft real outdoor Christmas tree within 3 days of the request. Despite the urgency of the call, no shortcuts could be made as Health & Safety is of the utmost importance to both Frosts Christmas tree services and Poole Town Centre Management.
All large tree installations require a high level of skill, however this particular installation is very challenging as we are required to manoeuvre an articulated lorry with beaverboard and hiab through into a pedestrian area. To adhere to the clients strict time restraints we start on site at 4.00 am.
Communication is important in this installation. We have to meet the exacting standards of the client while at all times ensuring the Council’s Health & Safety personnel are kept informed of our installation times so they can guarantee that every aspect has been completed to their satisfaction.
To ensure that only the very best specimens are selected for Poole our Large Tree Manager starts sourcing and tagging our trees in August.
The number of trees to be installed and the vicinity of the installation make this a long project with several teams working together to complete the task. It is always a day that is enjoyed by the Frosts Christmas tree staff.
