Task: Install two large external Christmas trees decorated with lights each end of a very busy market place in London
Specifications: 2 x 20ft Norway Spruce trees including stands and low voltage LED lights.
Description: Since 2007 this project has always commenced the same way. It begins with the careful selection of two trees that are matching in shape and size and this is not as simple as it sounds as real Christmas trees very rarely grow as matching pairs. These personally selected premium grade Christmas trees will be tagged and reserved in August in order to guarantee our client the best possible selection. Our purpose built stands are prepared and given a fresh coat of paint and the low voltage LED lights are PAT tested. The trees are transported onto site using a 7.5 ton lorry in the early hours of the day; usually arriving on site at 7.00am. In accordance to the site specific method statement and risk assessments the lorry is marshalled through the market square. To guide the vehicle through the market square we need one person at the back of the lorry and one at the front. The Frosts Large Christmas Tree installation team work closely with the Chrisp market square resident electricians to ensure that the transformers and electricity supply are out of reach to the general public. This particular installation has a high level electricity supply so much of the installation takes place using specialist platform ladders.
Frosts Christmas Tree services are very proud of our Health & Safety records and continue to consider Health & Safety the highest priority on any installation. All of our installation staff have extensive Health & Safety training, continual TBT and full ladder training. Where required installation staff will also hold HGV licences, will be MEWP, Chainsaw and PASMA certified.
For the past 5 years many of the installation team members have remained the same, on completion of the installation they have been known to enjoy the traditional East London delicacies of jellied eels or pie and mash.
